Tape-in Hair Extensions in Istanbul
Tape-in extensions are flat wefts of hair attached with medical-grade adhesive, sandwiched around a thin section of your own hair. A full head takes about two hours, sits flat enough to wear a ponytail, and is moved back up every six to eight weeks as your hair grows.
Also sold as tape extensions, tape in hair extensions, micro tape extensions. Different salons use different names for the same method.
How it is fitted
We section your hair, place one weft under and one over a thin slice of your own hair, then press them together. No heat, no glue gun, no chemicals on your scalp. The two tapes hold each other, your hair sits in between. A full head is 40 to 60 wefts depending on how much volume you want and how thick your own hair is.
Why people choose tape over strand methods
Tape is the flattest of all the permanent methods. The bond is a thin band, not a bead or a knot, so it lies against the scalp and disappears under your own hair. That matters if you wear your hair up. It is also the fastest to fit and the fastest to remove, which keeps both the appointment and the cost down.
What happens at the refit
Your hair grows about one centimetre a month. After six to eight weeks the tapes have moved down and are visible when you part your hair. We remove them with a solvent that breaks the adhesive without pulling, clean the wefts, re-tape them and put them back at the root. The same hair usually survives two or three refits before the ends need replacing.
The part nobody mentions
Tape does not like oil. Conditioner on the roots, oil-based masks and dry shampoo build-up all loosen the adhesive. If you use a lot of product or your scalp is naturally oily, tapes will slip earlier than eight weeks and you will be back sooner. That is a real cost, and it is the main reason we sometimes recommend micro rings instead.
Who this is not for
Very oily scalps and hair that is already fragile from bleaching. The adhesive needs a clean, strong root to hold. If your hair snaps when you comb it wet, we will tell you to wait and treat it first, even though that means no appointment today.
Aftercare
- Wait 48 hours before the first wash so the adhesive fully sets.
- Shampoo the scalp, condition from mid-length down only.
- No oil-based products near the bonds.
- Brush from the ends upwards with a loop brush, never yank through the roots.
- Tie your hair loosely before sleeping, a silk pillowcase helps.

Do tape-in extensions damage your hair?
Applied and removed correctly, no. The damage in this method comes from two mistakes: taking the tape out by pulling instead of dissolving it, and leaving it in far past the refit date so it drags on the root. Both are avoidable. We remove with solvent and we book your refit before you leave.
How long do tape-in extensions last?
Six to eight weeks per fitting. The hair itself lasts longer, usually two to three refits, so you are paying for the work rather than for new hair each time.
Can I wear my hair up with tapes?
Yes. Tape is the flattest permanent method, which is exactly why people choose it. A high ponytail will still show the top row if it is placed too high, so we set that row lower when you tell us you wear your hair up.
Can I colour tape-in extensions?
The hair can be toned darker or cooler. It cannot be lifted lighter, because extension hair has already been processed and will break. If you want to go lighter, we match new hair instead.
