Keratin Bond Hair Extensions in Istanbul
Keratin bond extensions attach each strand with a keratin tip melted around a section of your own hair, forming a bond about the size of a grain of rice. It is the longest-wearing method, typically three to four months, and it is the only common method that uses heat at the root.
Also sold as fusion extensions, hot fusion, K-tip extensions, micro bonding. Different salons use different names for the same method.
How the bond is made
The strand comes with a hard keratin tip. We take a thin section of your hair, wrap the tip around it and apply heat for a few seconds. The keratin softens, moulds around your hair and hardens as it cools. The result is a small, flexible bond that rotates with your hair instead of sitting rigid.
Why it lasts longest
The bond grips all the way around the section rather than clamping it at one point. Nothing slips because nothing is relying on friction. Three to four months is normal, and the limit is usually how far the bond has grown out, not whether it is still holding.
The heat question, answered honestly
Yes, there is heat at the root. It is brief and the tool is temperature limited, and on healthy hair it is not a problem. On hair that has been lifted to blonde several times, it can be. This is the one method where we look closely at your hair first and sometimes say no. Search data shows keratin is the most searched method, which means a lot of people arrive already set on it. Being talked out of it is not what anyone wants to hear, and we say it anyway when the hair calls for it.
Removal matters as much as fitting
The bond is dissolved with a solvent and then crumbled apart, strand by strand. Done properly it takes over an hour for a full head and your hair comes out intact. Done quickly, by pulling, it takes your hair with it. Most of the horror stories about keratin extensions are removal stories.
Who this is not for
Hair that is already compromised by bleaching, and anyone who wants their extensions out again in a few weeks. Removal needs a solvent and patience. If you are unsure whether you want extensions at all, start with clip-ins or tape, not with keratin.
Aftercare
- Wait 48 hours before the first wash, the bonds finish hardening.
- Sulphate-free shampoo, no conditioner near the bonds.
- Never sleep with wet hair, damp bonds are soft bonds.
- Separate the bonds with your fingers every few days so they do not matt together.
- Book removal or refit at three to four months, not at six.

Do keratin bond extensions damage your hair?
On healthy hair, correctly fitted and correctly removed, no. The two real risks are heat on already-bleached hair and pulling during removal. Both are decisions the salon makes, not the method.
How long do keratin extensions last?
Three to four months, the longest of the common methods. After that the bonds have grown too far from the root to sit comfortably.
Is keratin bond the same as fusion?
