How much do hair extensions cost in Turkey?

380 words

In Turkey, strand methods cost roughly 45 to 90 TL per strand and most people need 100 to 200 strands, so a full head lands between about 6,000 and 18,000 TL for the work. Tape sets run 6,000 to 15,000 TL. Hair is charged separately, usually 90 to 320 TL per 10 grams depending on length.

Work and hair are two different bills

The single most useful thing to understand about extension pricing is that you are buying two things: the hair, and the hours of skilled work to attach it. Salons that quote one bundled number are hiding which part you are paying for, and it is almost always the hair that is cheap and the work that is expensive, or the reverse. Ask for both separately anywhere you go.

Why per-strand pricing is more honest than a package

A flat price for a full head assumes everyone needs the same amount of hair. They do not. Fine, short hair might need 100 strands to look full. Adding 20 cm to already thick hair might need 250. If the salon charges both people the same, one of them is subsidising the other. Per-strand pricing means you pay for what your hair actually needed.

The cost nobody quotes: the refit

Extensions are not a one-time purchase, they are a subscription. Tape needs moving every six to eight weeks. Rings and keratin every three to four months. Over a year, a method with a cheap first appointment and an expensive refit can cost more than the reverse. Micro rings usually work out cheapest annually even though the first fitting costs more, because the refit only opens and closes the beads without replacing hair.

Why it costs less here than in London or New York

Labour and rent, mostly. A skilled extension technician in Istanbul costs a fraction of one in central London, and there are more of them relative to demand, so the work is competitive. The hair itself trades on a global market and costs roughly the same everywhere, which is the honest reason to price it as a separate line rather than claiming the whole thing is cheaper.

What a suspiciously cheap price usually means

Three things, in order of likelihood: non-Remy hair that will tangle within a month, far fewer strands than a full head actually needs, or a removal that will be rushed. The first two you can check by asking how many grams and how many strands. The third you only find out at the end.

What is the average cost of hair extensions in Turkey?

For a full head including hair, most people pay between 12,000 and 30,000 TL depending on method, length and how much hair their head needs. The range is wide because the amount of hair varies so much between people.

Is the hair included in the quoted price?

Often not, and you should always ask. We list hair and work separately for exactly this reason.

How much does a refit cost?

Tape refits run 3,500 to 6,000 TL. Ring refits are 25 to 40 TL per strand. Keratin needs re-tipping or new hair, which is why it is the most expensive method to maintain.
